We are now on to our sixth content update, and this week’s content update shares some tips and tricks regarding taking advantage of Siri on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. We dive into things such as creating secure passwords with Siri, manually correcting Siri errors and some funny questions to ask Siri for some laughs.

One trick in particular we are proud to share with iOS Centric subscribers is an advanced way to get custom homescreen layouts by creating blank spaces. There is no telling when Apple will patch this glitch that allows for these blank spaces, so be sure to check out that video.

Apple has released a new version of iOS for the iPhone 5 that brings about an updated audio profile for the speakerphone. After updating you will not notice any quality differences with the speakerphone so it is likely the changes are behind the scenes. Besides the updated audio profile for the speakerphone there is no other documented changes.

It is always good to be running the latest version of iOS so we recommend you update your iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1.4 now. You can upgrade to iOS 6.1.4 over-the-air or through iTunes. It’s your choice.

This week’s content update shares some tips and tricks regarding managing notifications and increasing your productivity on your iPad with gestures. We have even thrown in a parental tip to avoid unwanted iTunes charges.

If you have an iPhone 5 and would like to stand out from the crowd then you will want to try this Black Orb theme that will dramatically change to look of your iPhone.

Note: This may or may not work on other devices, we have only tested it on the iPhone 5. You are more than welcome to try it on other devices, but if it doesn’t look correct then chances are it is not compatible. If this is the case, simply follow our instructions for uninstalling the theme and you can be on your way.

The theme uses web clips and an easy to install profile to alter the appearance of your iPhone and its developer was very skilled at pulling the theme off. Right now it is the only one of its kind.

The only downfall to this theme is that as it uses webclips to alter the appearance of your iPhone, not all the icons could be themed properly. Notably, things like the stock phone app are no where to be found due to this. There will also be web clips for apps that you may not have installed present. If you try to open a web clip for an app that isn’t installed on your device, then no harm is done, of course. The icon will simply open to a blank white page until you install the app in question.

To apply this black orb theme to your iPhone 5, access this page on your iPhone and download the theme using the download link below. Upon downloading the attachment a new screen will appear, tap the Install button.

You will now see your home screen has been radically altered. Chances are you will get tired of this theme pretty quickly due to the lack of support for all of the stock apps and as such you can remove the theme by launching the Settings app, going into the General tab, tapping the profile and then the Uninstall button.

Once the profile has been uninstalled simply reboot your device and it will return to normal.

Apple introduced Multitasking gestures to reduce wear on your Home button and increase the rate at which you perform certain functions on your iPhone.

To bring up the Multitasking bar, you just need to swipe up with four fingers. Swiping either to the left or right with four fingers will switch between open apps. Finally, you will return to the home screen if you punch four fingers together.

If you find these gestures to be annoying because they occur accidentally, you can disable them. To do this, open the Settings app, go into the General tab and toggle Multitasking Gestures to OFF. Similarly if you find these gestures are not enabled simply turn Multitasking Gestures to the ON position.

When composing an email, you can add some style to your boring static text by using the Bold, Italic or Underline features. To do this, simply double tap the word to which you want to apply the style and tap the BIU option (if you do not see this option, tap the right arrow). You should see three styling options that can be applied to the highlighted word.

To insert a period quickly while typing, tap the space bar twice and a period followed by a blank space will automatically appear. Another method of accomplishing this is to tap the space bar with two fingers or thumbs.

You can use the Spotlight to perform a quick web search without having to open the Safari app.

From your home screen, swipe your finger to the right to access the Spotlight and then type in your search request. Options for either searching the Web or Wikipedia will appear.

In this case I have searched Apple and chose to do a web search. Safari automatically opens and the search engine of my choice is used to display results for Apple.

This can be time saving as you are not having to first open safari every time you want to make a query.

The default font used in the Notes app is Marker Felt. If you find this font difficult to read or simply want to be different from the crowd, you can change the font to either Noteworthy or Helvetica.

The font can be changed by launching the Settings app and then tapping the Notes tab. You should see a selection list of the available fonts. When you select a new font, all of your notes will automatically be updated to the new font.
